Resource Centre

SAVI's Resource Centre is acknowledged to be one of the most comprehensively equipped in Britain. We stock most of the range of equipment from the Royal National Institute for Blind People and Cobolt Systems Ltd. We also hold in addition an amazing variety of items which our staff and visually impaired people have found to be useful aids for coping with everyday tasks.

Popular items in the Resource Centre include among other things a plastic signature guide provided free of charge, talking weighing scales (personal and kitchen), talking clocks and watches, various games and TV magnifying screens.

SAVI also stocks the RNIB's audio described videos. These have extra dialogue to describe actions, costume and scenery. They are available for loan or purchase.

A price list is available upon request, and we are constantly adding items that have been discovered as useful aids to independence. It is impossible to adequately describe the centre, and only a personal visit can identify all that is offered.

All visits must be booked in advance. It can take an hour or more to really take things in, and have a hands onlook at items of interest. SAVI finds that visitors to the Resource Centre often come with their partner, friend or family escort, and they are welcome to participate in the experience. If a personal companion is not available to assist you with your visit, SAVI will endeavour to provide you with a volunteer driver.
