Surrey Association for Visual Impairment. Making a visible difference in Surrey.
The SAVI Head of Rehabilitation Services is Sandra Gregory.

For the last 24 years, I have worked with people who have a visual impairment in Surrey.I joined Surrey County Council's Blind Services Team (yes it was called that!) in 1983 and trained as a Mobility Officer. I worked mainly in West Surrey, visiting people in their homes and teaching mobility, which ranged from a totally blind boy of about 7-years-old to an ex-farmer who although partially sighted, was still determined to do a 3 mile country walk every day.
In 1990, I did additional training to become a Rehabilitation Offficer. In 1993, when SVAB took over the Surrey County Council contract, I became a Rehabilitation Team Manager.
The team and work have expanded in all directions since then. As from 1 October 2007, the Rehabilitation and Combined Sight and Hearing Loss Teams have joined forces and my role has changed to Head of Rehabilitation Services. Both teams have excellent staff with a wide range of experience and skills and it is a privilege to work with them.
As the sign on the office door says: We are committed to working with blind and partially sighted people in Surrey and to provide services so that they may lead fuller, more independent lives.
