Paper Experiments - 17th April 2010

Visually impaired individuals from around the county of Surrey were invited to the University of Creative Arts in Epsom on the 17th April 2010 to a workshop Paper Experiments! Qualified UCA tutors were on hand to guide, instruct and support participants throughout the day’s creative activities ensuring that the tactile and sensory experience was maximised for their visually impaired guests.

Participants were introduced to the development and combination of new textures created through the manipulation and selection of a variety of papers and paper types. Using the range of papers provided, participants experimented with the manipulation of paper by folding, twisting, tearing, crunching, rolling, cutting, sticking, moulding, weaving, puncturing, plating, and slicing to develop and produce a variety of surface textures.

"I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into but was more than pleasantly surprised and feel I not only had a lot of fun but actually learnt about paper and design.  I would love to learn more and perhaps even develop some hidden art skills!"
