Low Vision Studio
SAVI's Low Vision Studio stocks a comprehensive range of magnifiers and lighting. Some people who had been resigned to the idea that they would never be able to read again, have found that with good lighting, enhanced contrast and an appropriate degree of magnification, reading is still possible.
Along with the Low Vision Aids, we also have some electronic devices which magnify objects or text on a TV style screen, for example the Affinity, Eezee Reader, and the Magnalink, which many clients find useful when reading and writing. While it would be wrong to suggest that everyone could and would benefit from the use of these aids, our trained staff will work with you to achieve the best result possible.
This equipment is available by appointment for trial in the L.V.A Studio, and can be purchased at concessionary prices from SAVI. Although some of these devices can still be quite expensive, they are often a real boon to someone who wishes to continue to read standard print and who dislikes having to depend on others to read the labels on tins, or the cooking instructions on packet foodstuffs.
Alternatively, it may be possible to obtain various magnifying aids at no charge from a hospital Low Vision Aid Clinic.
