Surrey Association for Visual Impairment. Making a visible difference in Surrey.
From time to time everyone receives a gift they do not want. It might be a Christmas or Birthday present or perhaps a raffle prize. Everyone buys an item they think is perfect at the time, only to realise later that it was not what they really wanted, but it is too late to exchange it.
At SAVI we have regular raffles at events, and of course at Christmas. One of our staff organises a Silent Auction event each year. We are always looking for gifts and prizes for these. Items which are new and perfect, still boxed and unopened make excellent prizes either on their own or as part of a hamper or gift box. Antique items you are not fond of, when sold through auction, bring in valuable funds.
Across the county SAVI has collection boxes in shops, pubs, restaurants and many other places where the public meet or visit. The boxes need to be exchanged when they are full, or nearly full, so that the money can be put to good use quickly. Areas in need of Box Co-ordinators are Reigate/Redhill/Horley and district, Woking, the West of Guildford Borough and Farnham/Ash/Haslemere area. Mileage of 40p/mile is paid plus parking expenses re-imbursed.
